The Challenge
Navigate the regulatory process and standards to receive approval for a client to construct and operate the first produced water and hydraulic fracture flowback fluid storage pond (the Pond) in Alberta.
The Result
Integrated Sustainability worked closely with the client and regulators to determine the regulatory application process for the Pond. Integrated Sustainability then compiled the Directive 058: Oilfield Waste Management Requirements for the Upstream Petroleum Industry application, and which received approval from the Alberta Energy Regulator.
Integrated Sustainability also developed the design for the pond and provided compliance and engineering support during construction. Integrated Sustainability provided field engineering services, which included construction Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) during earthwork construction and geomembrane liner installation activities. In addition to the field engineering role, Integrated Sustainability provided QC construction survey layout services and developed as-built drawings and compliance documentation upon construction completion.
