The Challenge
Integrated Sustainability was commissioned to prepare a hydrogeological assessment in support of reopening a mine that was in a maintenance state, but has been in various stats of operation since the 1970’s. Plans to restart mining operations under the BC Mines Act: Ministry of Mines Permit M33 warrant an assessment of baseline hydrogeology at the site in the context of risk identification and mitigation.
The Result
Integrated Sustainability conducted a hydrogeological assessment of the area surrounding the site that included:
- A description of baseline hydrogeological conditions and mine dewatering activities
- A summary of background data
- Identification of potential impacts to groundwater
- Recommendations and discussion of risk mitigation and monitoring plans for the site
