The Challenge
Convert approximately 62 acres of an existing landfill to an aerobic landfill designed to reduce methane content at the landfill and qualify for carbon credits.
The Result
Integrated Sustainability reviewed and validated several components of an engineered design including the header design, specifications, and associated flow calculations for construction. We also reviewed the gas recovery system engineering package to confirm compliance with the Alberta landfill gas and electrical codes.
Integrated Sustainability completed a geotechnical/hydrogeological review and supported regulatory applications for the management of bottom water, moisture addition with the aerobic landfill system, and leachate within the landfill. QA/QC inspections were carried out of the aerobic landfill system both prior to shipping of the equipment and during construction and installation of the equipment and piping at site.
