Alberta Methane Emissions Reduction Ahead of Schedule
Alberta’s second annual progress report on methane reductions has revealed a 44% reduction in methane emissions between 2014 and 2021 – placing it firmly on track to surpass a 2025 emissions reduction target ahead of schedule.
The good news was joined in concert by further amendments to British Columbia’s methane reduction strategy, and the announcement of Alberta’s New Emissions Reduction and Energy Development Plan. New targets include a 75-80% methane emissions reduction by 2030 and carbon neutral emissions by 2050.
