The Challenge
After an earthquake north of Fort Saint John, the Owner onsite staff observed cracking along the pond side slope. The existing pond was not engineered and no material testing or observation records of construction are available. Pond side slopes range from approximately 2.5H:1V to 4H:1V. An assessment of the pond long term and global stability is currently under way. The design recommendations will be based on the geotechnical investigation, and visual observations.
The Result
Based on the findings of the geotechnical analyses, recommendations will be provided for the remediation of the slope. The recommendations will be evaluated based on cost and constructability, and then reviewed with the Client to address their needs. After a remediation option is selected, construction drawings will be provided.
