Permitting and investment decisions become exposed when a preferred treatment approach has not been developed against expected feedwater conditions, regulator requirements, and the level of engineering definition needed to support cost and delivery decisions.
Our preliminary water treatment design combines regulatory fluency, application-specific process expertise, feedwater management, and full-discipline engineering to establish a right-sized treatment basis without embedding unnecessary treatment intensity or capital. The resulting FEED basis provides the technical evidence, cost confidence, and engineering definition needed to advance toward approval and final investment decision. Challenges we help resolve include:
- FID confidence can be undermined by unresolved cost drivers beyond core process equipment, including utilities, residuals handling, redundancy, controls, site interfaces, and balance-of-plant requirements.
- Selected technologies may still lack the site-specific engineering needed for facility integration, including process duties, hydraulics, interfaces, controls, monitoring, and supporting infrastructure.
- Permit criteria can remain difficult to demonstrate without sufficient engineering definition of treatment performance, containment, residuals management, upset response, monitoring, and operating controls.
- Testing and modelling may remain disconnected from the design basis, leaving equipment duties, performance margins, and acceptance requirements open to interpretation.
