Is a site selection study the same as a feasibility study?

No. Site selection studies focus on defining and comparing location constraints, not determining overall project feasibility. They inform whether a site can reasonably progress to feasibility without implying economic or technical viability of the full project.

Can site selection be done with limited baseline data?

Yes, provided data limitations are explicitly defined. Early-stage studies rely on available information and proxies, with clear documentation of what remains undefined so future investigations can target gaps efficiently.

Does the study recommend a single preferred site?

The work may identify a preferred option or a short list, depending on decision needs. In some cases, clearly defining viable and non-viable sites without ranking is the appropriate outcome.

When is site selection not the right next step?

If a location is already contractually fixed or mandated, a site selection study may add limited value. In those cases, targeted constraint or regulatory definition is often more appropriate.

How are results used in later permitting?
