Water Act Applications and Reporting Moving to OneStop
The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) is set to implement enhancements to the OneStop application tool for Water Act applications, focusing on water licensing and reporting. These updates are slated to be in effect from February 22, 2024. Operators are strongly encouraged by the AER to submit WURS monthly and annual reports before January 31, 2024, to mitigate potential reporting issues during the system’s transition.
Furthermore, Alberta Environment and Protected Areas (APEA) has published its Water Shortage Management Stages in preparation for upcoming drought conditions and extremely low predicted water levels into the spring of 2024. Temporary diversion license suspensions are expected in certain basins.
In addition to these developments, this update includes details on the recent announcement of the Alberta Carbon Capture Incentive Program and the funding support available for carbon capture, utilization, and storage infrastructure.
