Regulatory Bulletin, June 2023

Canada’s Energy Future 2023 Report Released & Carbon Intensity Reduction Requirements in Effect

This month, the Canada Energy Regulator released their latest report, titled “Canada’s Energy Future 2023: Energy Supply and Demand Projections to 2050.” With a primary focus on the challenges of attaining net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, the report delves into various net-zero scenarios, providing Canadians and policymakers with valuable insights into the potential landscape of a net-zero world.

Additionally, this issue emphasizes the commencement of the initial compliance period for the Carbon Intensity Reduction Requirements, effective as of July 1st, 2023. These requirements, introduced through the Clean Fuel Regulations released last summer, are designed to stimulate the advancement and implementation of various cleaner fuels and technologies.
