Raw Water Storage Reservoirs – Feasibility Assessment

Integrated Sustainability - Industrial Water Treatment Services and Equipment
project details

3,000,000 m3 Freshwater Storage Evaluation

project overview

Integrated Sustainability evaluated the feasibility of 4 municipal freshwater storage reservoirs, with capacities up to 3,000,000 m3. It involved site assessments, conceptual designs, dam failure risk classifications, flood studies, and a consideration of run-of-river electricity generation.

project deliverables

  • Conducted comprehensive visual field investigations and feasibility reviews to identify hazards and assess suitability for four potential municipal freshwater storage reservoir sites.
  • Completed conceptual engineering designs for storage reservoirs and associated stockpiles at each site, with reservoir capacities ranging from approximately 1 to 3 million m³ and embankments up to 15 metres high.
  • Performed high-level dam failure classification assessments for each site to evaluate potential risks and regulatory considerations.
  • Developed a risk-based Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA) framework to rank alternative sites based on conceptual design, environmental impacts, and cost estimates.
  • Carried out flood inundation studies and assessed consequence-of-failure classifications for the four alternative sites based on conceptual reservoir designs.
