project details

Consistency Testing of Semi-Passive Water Treatment

project overview

Integrated Sustainability consistency tested semi-passive water treatment for mine operations using saturated rock fill technology. It involved regulatory engagement, groundwater well installation, and pilot-scale testing to evaluate treatment boundaries and effectiveness.

project deliverables

  • Engaged with provincial regulators to develop a regulatory roadmap outlining the pathway for permits, permit amendments, and project approvals.
  • Installed and field-tested nested groundwater monitoring wells, along with groundwater injection and extraction wells, to support hydrogeological assessment activities.
  • Collected water and soil samples for laboratory-scale treatment evaluations to define treatment performance expectations, operational boundaries, reaction timelines, treatment rates, and reagent requirements.
  • Collected and analyzed water samples throughout the testing phase to assess system response and treatment effectiveness.
  • Obtained additional groundwater samples from each monitoring well for selenium speciation analyses during the testing program.
  • Defined pilot-scale operational parameters, including success criteria, risk considerations, and approaches for pilot-scale system installation and testing.
