project details

Feasibility Engineering and Cost Estimation for a 3,000 m3/d Mine Water Treatment Plant

project overview

Integrated Sustainability was contracted to conduct feasibility engineering and cost estimation for a 3,000 m3/d mine water treatment plant. The design included advanced treatment technologies and explored preconditioning options.

project deliverables

  • Developed a high-density sludge treatment system to reduce dissolved metals, including copper, cadmium, and iron, through optimized pH control and sludge recirculation.
  • Designed a ferric co-precipitation process to achieve arsenic removal in compliance with regulatory discharge criteria.
  • Engineered a full-scale moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) system for ammonia treatment, designed to accommodate peak flows of 3,000 m³/d.
  • Integrated process tanks, clarification systems, and filter press equipment for sludge dewatering into the overall treatment process design.
  • Conducted feasibility-level engineering across civil, mechanical, electrical, and process disciplines.
  • Prepared Class 4 cost estimates aligned with feasibility-stage design, including projected capital savings through optimization of the ammonia treatment system.
  • Evaluated influent water characteristics to assess opportunities for process preconditioning and treatment optimization.
