project details

In-Field Dosing Program to Assess Passive Metal Precipitation and Settling Dynamics for Mine Pit Water

project overview

Integrated Sustainability developed and supervised an in-field dosing program to assess passive metal precipitation and settling dynamics for mine pit water. Reagent volumes were estimated based on site chemistry, followed by a 4-day site visit to complete jar testing, monitor real-time dosing, and collect samples. Post-analysis confirmed the effectiveness of the passive approach and informed recommendations on whether further active treatment was warranted.

project deliverables

  • Estimated site-specific reagent dosing volumes using existing pit water chemistry and flow data.
  • Prepared preliminary process flow diagrams and operational approach for passive reagent addition.
  • Conducted on-site jar testing and operational oversight during the initial 4-day dosing and mixing phase.
  • Collected and submitted water samples for validation of metals removal and settling rates.
  • Measured field settling velocities to evaluate passive treatment feasibility using pond retention.
  • Completed post-visit data analysis and produced a technical report on treatment performance and residual risk.
