project details

Aquifer Sourcewater Suitability Assessment Supporting Industrial Operations Expansion

project overview

Integrated Sustainability supported groundwater source development by drilling and evaluating a new supplemental well to augment existing capacity. Field programs included drilling, testing, and water quality assessments to confirm the aquifer’s suitability. A regulatory application was completed to formally license the well, which was designed to supply a backup water source and eventually replace 2 older wells targeted for decommissioning.

project deliverables

  • Drilled and developed a new groundwater well and conducted detailed aquifer testing, including step-rate and 72-hour constant-rate drawdown and recovery phases.
  • Completed groundwater sampling for physical, chemical, and bacteriological parameters, as well as microscopic particulate analysis to evaluate potential surface water interaction.
  • Prepared a detailed hydrogeological report evaluating transmissivity, storativity, and long-term yield to confirm the well’s viability as a backup supply.
  • Assessed historical and nearby well data to contextualize performance and inform sustainable drawdown estimates.
  • Submitted a regulatory application to update licensing and integrate the new well into the existing water supply system.
  • Provided recommendations for well maintenance, water quality monitoring, and adaptive management based on microbial and water chemistry results.
