Operations & Maintenance for Barbados First Membrane Bioreactor Wastewater Treatment Plant

Since 2013, Integrated Sustainability has supported full-scale operation and maintenance of Barbados’ first membrane bioreactor (MBR) wastewater treatment plant, servicing a 40,000 gpd flow. The decentralized water treatment plant supports the Coral Reef Club, a luxury resort servicing over 80 rooms and suites daily.

  • Delivered full-service operations support, including daily process oversight, remote system monitoring, and periodic on-site inspections.
  • Conducted routine preventive maintenance and predictive diagnostics to minimize unplanned downtime and maintain stable effluent quality.
  • Replaced defective or worn components resulting from regular system use, including membrane filters, pumps, and sensors.
  • Performed regular system tests, safety inspections, and operational checks across key infrastructure.
  • Completed maintenance activities including cleaning, adjustment, and inspection of all major mechanical and electrical components.
  • Maintained a long-term service plan focused on reliability and efficiency for Barbados’ oldest MBR system.
