The Challenge
Integrated Sustainability was retained to provide a preliminary redesign of the Source Water Station (SWS) for a heavy oil facility to meet the demand of an upcoming expansion.
The goal of this project was to complete a preliminary design of an industrial source water treatment plant that provides fresh water from the Peace River to a regional in-situ facility. The water is used as make-up for steam generation.
The Result
The raw water intake proposed by Integrated Sustainability is based on a riverbank filtration (RBF) design providing lower turbidity raw water than a traditional surface water intake, and reduces solids handling requirements.
The SWS design was developed to provide the required water volumes and also eliminate the need to discharge solids back to the Peace River.
