The Challenge
Integrated Sustainability was tasked with evaluating the costs and benefits of two water/wastewater pipeline routes. In addition, the team was responsible for the consideration of two distinct pipeline configurations:
- Single pipeline for supply and disposal water
- Separate pipelines for the two facilities to provide source and disposal autonomy to both projects
The Result
After careful consideration, one of the two routes was selected due to lower costs, favourable terrain, and lower environmental risk.
The separate pipeline option was preferred despite approximately 10% higher costs due to the advantages of additional redundancy.
