The Challenge
The Vancouver Airport required a third-party specialist expert review of a proposed rainwater harvesting and water treatment system at a strategic point in the design process (45%).
The project goal was to correct problems, prevent unnecessary expenditures, verify compliance with applicable design standards and codes, ensure protection of public and operator health and safety, and improve the overall quality of the design and execution.
The Result
Integrated Sustainability’s review identified a number of areas that would improve the program outcome. These included the preparation of a Water Safety Plan to assess hazards and identify control points, operations and maintenance procedures, additional plumbing standards for consideration, and improvements to the water treatment system to optimize water quality and costs of collection and treatment.
