The Challenge
Develop a raw water treatment system for a heavy oil refinery to provide make-up for industrial processes, as well as supply and manage fire water distribution for the refinery. The source water for this is subject to significant annual variability in quality. The design basis for the project required a 99.6% on stream factor, measured on an annual basis.
The Result
Integrated Sustainability was responsible for all Process Engineering work through Front End and Detailed Engineering, including development of the water balance, equipment selection and sizing, P&ID and line list development and hydraulics for the raw water treatment and firewater systems.
Integrated Sustainability delivered a system that returned 99.6% on-stream factor despite significant seasonal variations in source water turbidity.
