The Result
The team successfully evaluated flowback water chemistry, modeled water mixing scenarios, evaluated treatment technology, and developed a strategy for flowback water recycling to achieve water and waste management goals. This comprehensive evaluation answered concerns regarding how different water chemistry could:
- Adversely interact with frac fluid chemistry
- Adversely interact with reservoir properties
- Interfere with some treatment processes
- Create a waste stream that will require special handling
