Bill C-59 Receives Royal Assent
On 20 June 2024, Bill C-59, Canada’s Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act received Royal Assent. The Bill, among many other things, makes significant amendments to the Competition Act by creating new rules regarding unsupported claims made to promote a product, business, or business activity.
Of particular note, these provisions will have an impact on how companies market and promote their efforts to reduce their environmental footprint and address global climate change causes and effects.
