As a Senior Project Engineer, you will support projects that span multiple disciplines within our organization in order to deliver high quality and sustainable solutions to our clients. You will have the opportunity to expand your career by working on exciting and high-profile water, waste, and energy projects.
Your experience in the industry and/or consulting, as well as your project and people skills will enable you to make a difference in our industry and inspire new and better ways to implement engineering and water management solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute activities related to end-to-end project management, including project plans and estimates, scoping, and progress reports
- Proactively monitor, manage and report on execution of deliverables
- Effectively coordinate multiple projects between various discipline groups
- Ensure project deliverables meet or exceed both client and internal expectations by implementing a deliverable quality assurance review appropriate to the project size and scope
- Provide technical review and direction
- Coordinate project resources to meet project requirements. As required by the project scope, identify, qualify, and negotiate contracts with subcontractors and subconsultants
- Define and mitigate overall project risk through interaction with the project team and clients
- Communicate project status to the project leaders and team and provide project reports
- Projects are generally within Alberta and British Columbia, however, opportunities may be available for international work. Field visits to client sites and/or project sites will be required on occasion and as project needs arise
- Interact with internal teams (environmental, regulatory, geoscience, and engineering) on multidisciplinary projects
- Actively monitoring and managing project changes
Position Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8+ years of proven experience and a technical background in Mechanical Engineering is preferred
- Civil and structural project experience
- Registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Legally able to work in Canada

- Strong organizational and time management skills – ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated contract administration and project management skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize a complex series of project components to meet multiple time-based deliverables requiring a high level of detail and accuracy
- Demonstrates persistence to overcome obstacles
- Experience in energy, mining and/or municipal sectors considered an asset
- Proven track record of managing budget and schedule
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience with report and proposal writing
- Ability to explain difficult issues and works to establish consensus and compliance
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain effective and respectful working relationships with internal and external contacts
- Proactive with a high level of attention to detail
- Legally able to work in Canada
- Decision-making and problem solving ability
- Experience with preparation of clear and comprehensive reports, construction execution plans, technical notes and client presentations
